One day, a father and his rich family took his young son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose to show him how poor people can be. They spent a day and a night in the farm of a very poor family. When they got back from their trip, the father asked his son, “How was the trip?”

“Very good, Dad!”

“Did you see how poor people can be?” the father asked.

“Yeah!”

“And what did you learn?”

The son answered, “I saw that we have a dog at home, and they have four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of the garden; they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lamps in the garden, they have the stars. Our patio reaches to the front yard, they have a whole horizon.”

When the little boy was finishing, his father was speechless.

His son added, “Thanks, Dad, for showing me how poor we are!”

Isn’t it true that it all depends on the way you look at things? If you have love, friends, family health, good humour and a positive attitude towards life, you’ve got everything!

You can’t buy any of these things. You can have all the material possessions you can imagine, provisions for the future, etc.. but if you are poor of spirit, you have nothing!

It's Party Time ! ! !
____________________________________________________

Yesterday it was the last day of my job. It was fruits day when everyone of us is give one fruit, either apple or orange or a stock of longan. Sounds interesting right? - A company having fruits day.

Anyway initially thought I'll be going out in the night with xp to Phuture, but she seemed rather pre-occupied these days. I am supposed to go school for prayer, but in the end I forgot totally about it. The meeting time was 8pm and I realised that I need to go school at 805pm, so in the end I did not go.

Friday night is also the mahjong session for "JoY lUcK ClUb", but ber wanted to sleep, so it was cancelled too.

Then Ryan thought that he would be going clubbing with me cos I thought I would be gg with xp. But since xp never say anything about it, nothing was done. Initially Ryan seemed not keen on going clubbing cos of his "super short" hair (which is not as short as he claims) plus his new pimple by his mouth. In the end we still went, with Candice !!!!

I haven clubbed with her for a very very long time. Reallie miss clubbing with her a lot. And I haven met up with her for the same length of time. The last time was during my birthday last year.

Initially we went Cocco Latte, cos I wanted to try that place. Caryn goes there like at least once every 2 week so I wanted to find out what is so attractive about that place. I got there, it is very different from what I expected. The place is often featured on TV and was portrayed as a place with a lot of pop art culture. But when I saw that place I felt rather let down. Cos that place is small and there is no much decor there, just random graffiti on all the walls. The social culture there is very different from what I exprience from other clubs. Candice was commenting that the crowd seemed older. But it is not only it. It the way they dance too. The DJ is not bad, but it ain't enough. I DID realise the main reason Caryn was there so often. Hah. . . *ang mohs*

We took our free drink and left the place. Then we change to ZOUK.

I was quite suprise that there wasn't much queue and Phuture is not Full House. But Velvet's queue was quite long. But anyway we went Phuture. I always wanted to try FLAVA, and it is really good compared to Wed Phuture. Candice and I never stayed in Phuture for the whole night before and this was the first!

Candice introduce me a drink, that is buying Margarita in Jug form. That it something I would not like to try again. I kept getting Brain FREEZE!!! Haha. And I kept drinking the alcohol portion (I think) til the end, the bottom was plainly sour only. Ryan also introduce us a drink - E33 with syrup. Hah. It is reddish color, quite nice.

At the end of the night, both of us was quite tired but we forgot to exchange our drinks. Before we leave each of us just drank 2 more glasses and I was abit high when I was in Ryan's car. hah . :P

Next time I think I should exchange the drinks first. hehe.

I was surprise that I met Prab there. And my dearest Seirye was there too!!!! We were in the same dancefloor the whole time and we did not see each other. Haha. Its like Seirye in Phuture!!! So exciting. Hah.

The funniest thing is not this. It's Ryan. He went to fetch Candice, whom he has never seen before, from her place. Hah.

Anyone's going Phuture next Friday? Tell me k?

Farewell Party
____________________________________________________

My vacation job is coming to an end. I started in the company since 11 May 2005 and it will ended on 22 July 2005. This week is my last week in the company and the collegues have been great in giving me treats.

On Monday, Mr Yip, Linda and Amy brought me back to NUS to have lunch. Initially I wanted to bring them to Arts Canteen, but there was no available parking in law and it was raining heavily. In the end, we went Engine Canteen to eat. Engine Canteen changed most of the vendors already so I could not recommend them with anything except that ask them not to eat the Chicken Rice Stall (which I was quite surprise it was still there).

Today Ms Peanut drove me, Pauline, Linda and Sharon to Raffles Marina to have dinner. It is a country club and I suspected it is a yacht club too. We went to the resturant there. Initially Ms Peanut wanted to sit outside because there is better view out there. Sadly there is a function there, so we took the inside seats. After having our meal, we wanted to have dessert and we requested to go out since the function ended. We manage to take the outside seats.

The view there is really spectacular. I really love it. Probably it is the sunset too. It is the sun and the sea kinda thingy, it just looks better. Hah. The sky is in beautiful pink and blue. haha. It is really nice. We ate til 820pm and left for home.

I wonder what will happen tomorrow since it is my last day. Will it be like last year?

Threading
____________________________________________________

I finally went to try threading. The nearest I know is in Clementi, so I went there after work to get it down.

Initially I was quite curious to know how it feels like, cos it seemed to be like thread rubbing on your skin, how would that ever remove hair? Then the girl before me teared when she was being thread. I started wondering if it is as painful as using the tweezer.

When it was my turn, I told her I wanted a face threading. She asked if I wanted with or without the eyebrows. After much thought, I decided to go with the brows.

It feels weird. It feels as if your skin is velcro and the girl seemed pulling it apart.

It really does remove hair. It is not just string rubbing on your skin!!!

But she removed lots of my baby hair, like those nearest to the edge of my forehead and my sideburn. They are the most painful removals.

I miss my baby hairs....

They kept putting powder on my face. I think those powder made my face itch and the worse thing is I am not going home after that. I am going to remy's place. When I reached remy's place, I quickly went to rinse my face, or else it's highly likely that I will get rashes tomorrow.

I do not like the way she shaped my brows, but what to do?

There are a few advantages for threading. I just mentioned 2 that I feel that is super useful to me. Firstly, it is fast. Secondly, your face would not be red after threading.

Try it, and make it your personal experience. Hah...

Eyeborg
____________________________________________________

I stumbled upon the Eyeborg when I was flipping through the channels this morning and I found CNA featuring it. I find that it is very interesting so I decided to share the information.

( ^ ) ( ^ ) ( ^ ) ( ^ ) ( ^ ) ( ^ )

Taken from Research TV

Eyesight is one of our most valuable senses - if it's damaged in any way it has a major impact on life.

Two exciting new developments from the South West of England could make a major difference to the lives of many sight-impaired people around the world. Researchers from the University of Bristol have recently reported the first evidence of progenitor cells, also known as stem cells, in the retina. They are now looking at the conditions needed to turn them into nerve cells or photo receptor cells. If they can achieve this, then they are well on the way to controlling eye disease by helping the injured retina restore itself.

And for those suffering from colour blindness, the "Eyeborg" offers a way to accurately distinguish colour. A prosthesis that enables the wearer to identify different colours by a series of sounds associated with colour frequency, the "Eyeborg" has been developed by a lecturer in cybernetics, working with an artist suffering from achromatopsia - a condition that means he can only see in black and white!

( ^ ) ( ^ ) ( ^ ) ( ^ ) ( ^ ) ( ^ )

A Westcountry arts student has pioneered groundbreaking "cyborg" technology
which could help thousands of people overcome colour blindness.

Neil Harbisson, from Totnes, said his life has been transformed since the
"magic moment" when he first perceived colour through sound.

Now he wears the purpose-built, award-winning machine throughout his waking
hours, saying he feels "disabled" without it.

The idea was born when Neil, 22, approached Adam Montandon, who lectures
digital technology at Dartington College or Arts.

"I asked him if it would be possible to create something through which I
could perceive colour and light," said Neil, who has been completely colour
blind since birth.

Mr Montandon embraced the challenge, and within one month the first
prototype of the so-called Eyeborg was created.

The device incorporates a camera which detects colour levels and software
which omits a sound for each level of the spectrum. Held together with
string and wires, the first model cost just £50, but as soon as Neil put it
on he knew his life had changed forever.

"It was a magical moment," he said. "I was finally able to distinguish
colours, which I could never do before."

Now Neil considers the machine a "brain extension". After his GP wrote a
letter explaining the situation, Neil became the first person in the UK
whose passport recognises him as a cyborg - someone who depends on a
computer.

Neil, who studies music composition, has now swapped his instrument of
choice from the piano to the Eyeborg. He now writes music as the machine
registers the colours around him.

"It's a music which is composed by an extension of my brain," he said. "I
think it's a world first."

Neil hopes to stage a street concert on Friday December 10, at 11am, outside
Birdwood House on Totnes High Street.

As well as opening musical doors, the Eyeborg has created a new spectrum for
Neil's painting, which was ever only in black and white before the
invention.

He matches up the sound emitted from an object with the noise from his
pallet to reproduce the colour.

Inventor Adam Montandon said the results were "very precise". He said: "Neil
was always told he could never perceive colour. But there's no reason people
should have to accept the reality they are given. We can use technology to
take reality and turn it into something he can perceive."

Since it's conception in March, the Eyeborg has already scooped two
accolades - including the Europix Top Talent Award, recently presented in
Vienna. Mr Montandon said he had received plenty of interest from colour
blind, partially-sighted and blind communities.

He said the device was "constantly evolving" through improvements Neil
suggested, and the pair hope to eventually produce a version which will be
the size of a pair of glasses expected to retail for around £1,000. The
final model would be far superior to the £50 prototype, which fell apart
within weeks.

Sally Zimmermann, music advisor for the Royal National Institute for the
Blind, hailed the invention as a "fabulous idea". She said it would improve
colour perception from an artistic point of view and in day to day living
for people with visual impairments.

"These days it's so important to be colour co-ordinated in everything from
fashion to interior design. This creation would boost their confidence to be
able to do that," she said.

CHANGED MAN . . . perhaps not . . .
____________________________________________________

Today my brother did something AMAZING.

He brought cakes home. Somemore it is not those kind offer ones (you know crystal jade and raffles hotel, they have those half price cakes after a certain time. He always buy those home.) Those cakes he brought home today is imported from HOLLAND. It flew in from HOLLAND. My brother doing this ... it is just plain amazing, extraordinary, astounding, bewildering, breathtaking, stupefying, stupendous. He even ordered one huge box !!!

Can you imagine? MY BROTHER buying such stuff.

Well perhaps he is a changed man.

After he started working, maybe he has more "spare" cash. He always says he wanted to buy this home, buy that home. But he never. And this is the first time he really did.

My mum love it so much. She kept saying is very nice and even called my uncle to pick up some for her sisters. So that she could share the joy with her sisters.

But then to me, it taste good. But my mum just blew up everything, making me think that the cake was heavenly. Sadly it was not. But it still taste good.

Its like one layer of rolled up sponge cake with vanilla cream inside. The outside has a layer of frosting. My dad thought the cream as ice-cream, but it was just plain vanilla cream. Can you imagine how wonderful it taste.

I guess I tasted more of my brother's effort in this family.

I lurve you bro!!
